Volunteer
As a nonprofit NUBIA is always looking for community members who are willing to give their time to our organization. Interning or volunteering through NUBIA offers insight into urban agriculture and a better understanding of the farmers behind projects such as our own. Volunteer work can range from garden clean ups to harvesting depending on the time of the season. We accept commitments from hours to days to months. Any amount of work you are willing to provide truly benefits our organization.
To volunteer with Nubia, please fill out our volunteer application.
For the 2024 season, our volunteer schedule is as follows:
Friday’s after 2pm, and Saturday and Sunday typically starting after 10am. Please email bbeagan20@gmail.com or text at 978-390-3199 to confirm which gardens will be available each week.
To schedule a group for volunteering please reach out to Sayed (a.sayed@nubianet.net) or Beth (bbeagan20@gmail.com) to work out a time and place that best suits the needs of your group.
Internships
We offer a variety of internships from part-time to full-time. We also offer service hours for undergraduates who are looking to fill volunteer hours consistently for any of their classes. Below are positions that are available to undergraduates or individuals looking to gain more experience in urban agriculture, community health, marketing, and social work.
- Community Development Intern: This position consists of developing online platforms to increase social awareness around NUBIA. This would include developing social media platforms and consistently gaining support from the local community through posts, surveys and other forms of involving the community with the work of NUBIA. This position is also responsible for spreading benefits of urban agriculture and its’ ability to combat food insecurity.
- Educational Development Intern: This position consists of developing educational material on our website and social media platforms. Through developing virtual videos, pdfs and curriculums for virtual classes this position will refine skills surrounding teaching. This internship would also expect help for in-person courses and developing an understanding for the work done by NUBIA.
If you are interested in interning with NUBIA submit your cover letter and resume along with any additional university paperwork to Beth Beagan at bbeagan20@gmail.com and a.sayed@nubianet.net and we will get back to you shortly.
