Welcome to NUBIA!

We are a nonprofit urban development organization, transforming vacant land into vibrant community gardens across Boston. Since 2008, we’ve been rooted in the fight against food insecurity — growing fresh produce for families who need it most and reclaiming space for community health and self-reliance. Every garden we build is a step toward equity, resilience, and local ownership of the food system.

What We Do

Healthy Food Icon

Access to Healthy Food

We grow and deliver fresh, affordable food to low-income families in the Greater Boston area including Somerville, Brighton, and Cambridge through farm stands and direct home deliveries.

Urban Land Icon

Urban Land Reclamation

We’ve converted over 8,000 square feet of unused city land into thriving gardens that supply fresh vegetables and herbs to SNAP and HIP recipients.

Education Icon

Educational Programs

We support communities in fighting food insecurity through personalized education on gardening and nutrition, offering abundant resources for anyone eager to learn.

Nubia Map Icon

Cultural Restoration

Hailing from the fertile lands of Nubia, our founder honors the legacy of one of the world’s oldest farming civilizations by integrating simple, organic practices in everything we do.

Connect With Us

We are always eager to hear from community members who want to get involved, share ideas, or support our mission through internships and volunteer opportunities.
